SOO Green HVDC Link is engaging potential ‘shippers’ (subscribers of its transmission capacity), including utilities, power generation developers, generation owners and operators in MISO, as well as commercial and industrial electricity users, municipalities and major renewable energy buyers in PJM.
Upper Midwest states in MISO’s service territory possess vast untapped low-cost renewable energy resources. However, these resources are increasingly unable to reach customers due to power grid constraints in the existing transmission system. At the same time, electricity customers in PJM are increasingly seeking zero-carbon renewable energy.
SOO Green HVDC Link will enable the development of more than 4,000 megawatts of new renewable energy from a diverse portfolio of wind and solar generators in MISO and deliver this clean energy to customers in PJM.
